How long is the SYME program? SYME has four terms a year and each term is approximately eight weeks long.

Can students choose how many terms to study? Yes! Students can attend one term at a time or stay for the full 32-week program.

Can students choose to take classes instead of studying full-time? No, our program is designed to be an immersive experience. Anything less would not allow students to achieve the desired results.

Do students need to stay on the weekends? It’s not required to stay on weekends but we recommend it! On weekends students can choose to stay in Taichung and spend time practicing English and building friendships with our staff. We also have a variety of fun activities like trips around Taiwan, movie nights, and our own KTV nights!

Do students have to live in SYME accommodations? No, it’s not necessary, but we encourage all of our unmarried SYME students to take advantage of the full experience. SYME provides separate accommodations for male and female students that are also shared with our staff. That means you can practice English at night, hang out, and live with real native English speakers. Many come just to learn English but leave with friends for life!

Do I need to be a Christian to attend SYME?  No, as long as you are willing to learn about the Bible, participate, and follow the rules outlined in the Student Handbook.

Is SYME a cram school? No, SYME is a non-profit religious organization. Our motivation is to share about the Bible, exchange cultures, and help students improve their English.

How old do you have to be to attend? Students must be 18 years old or have completed high school in order to attend.

Am I too old to attend? No, we often have students who are 40 or older as well as married students.
